Wheeling and Dealing!

10 Apr

I am a fan of shoes.  I am also a fan of deals.  When you put those two things together, I sometimes get excited and end up with new shoes.

Being a frugal person on a fairly strict budget with a lot of self-control prevents this from happening very often at all, so when it does, I get kind of worked up – which is what happened recently.

I’d been saying for a while that I was in need of a new pair of casual shoes as well as some new basketball shoes (those things are barely allowed in the house), but had been holding off – at least partly because I have not wanted to spend money right now, and partly because shoe shopping sometimes takes a bit of time for me and I didn’t want to spend my time doing that when it should be spent doing other things (i.e. blogging).  Well, I recently got a coupon in the mail from Shoe Carnival advertising a buy 1 pair, get 1 pair half off deal.  What better opportunity?!

So I decided to try a quick online browse to try and get an idea of what kind of selection they might have, and wouldn’t you know it, I got sucked in!  I actually didn’t use the coupon deal, because the one I found online was even better – I ended up getting two pairs of shoes for $50 with free shipping!

Some nice Nike shoes for casual wear.

And some casual brown shoes as well.

I didn’t get a pair of basketball shoes; that will have to wait for another day.  But the deal was too good to pass up – even for me.  This was also my first ever online shoe purchase (oh, hey guy from the 90’s who still goes into shoe stores to try on the shoes before buying…), so I was really excited that it worked out well.  Just like an excited kid on Christmas morning:

“I typed stuff on the internets and then shoes came in the mail!!”

You would love online Black Friday deals. I received 70% of my dress shoes and clothes. You should also visit slickdeals.net, but you might actually lose money by buying unncessary items.

haha. it’s a delicate balance. i usually don’t buy anything, so i end up saving money that way. but when i was actually looking for shoes, it worked out.

probably need a laptop in the near future, but i definitely don’t want to spend that money quite yet if i don’t have to.
