“I’m just trying to make it in a blog – eat – blog world…”
Clever, right? (I came up with that…haha!) So after several months of blogging, I don’t know if I can legitimately call myself “new” in the world of blogging any longer. At this point, I think that my blog has taken shape as a forum in which I share/discuss 3 general categories of things that interest me: Food (no surprise there!), Sociology (still no surprise…), and Sport/fitness (yet another unsurprising choice).
Food: All things food. In a lot of cases this ends up being highlighted through my “Best Thing I’ve Eaten This Week” posts. I like to share ideas for cooking, and show what I’ve made or eaten recently that I’ve really enjoyed.
Sociology: As a university instructor of sociology (on the way to getting my PhD), it’s no surprise that I tend to see sociological concepts crop up in a variety of places/arenas, and these often find their way into posts. (I also occasionally share teaching ideas/activities…) I generally tend to highlight these kinds of things in a “less-academic” manner, which is nice for me (a bit more relaxed) and hopefully for you, the reader (a bit more approachable). If nothing else, this hopefully makes people stop for a second and think about things in a new/different way…
Sport/fitness: For as long as I can remember, I have been an extremely active person. I participated in all kinds of sports growing up, and continue to participate in as many as possible/available. Along with sport participation, I tend to discuss fitness as well (different things that I’m doing, workouts, ideas, etc.). I also occasionally discuss sport (not as a participant – i.e. the NCAA tournament, IU basketball, the NBA playoffs, football, etc.).
Though these are the three main things that I post on, I do have other miscellaneous posts as well. Some things that find their way into my blog: things that pop up in the news, random advice I have, things that are funny or catch my eye for some reason, or just anything else I may have to say.
I hope that you enjoy reading through the blog and stop by frequently. I always appreciate and enjoy reading comments and thoughts from others, so be sure to comment and pass it along to others so that they can share as well!

Just curious if you plan on expanding your areas of interest to maybe include any political driven blogs? I think it would be interesting to hear the perspective of a Sociologist on politics.. Sorry for this completely random question.. I am kind of a politics junkie and its incredibly interesting to be able to read/hear the view points of different people.
And if not, no biggie! Just thought I would toss it out there. 😀

I generally don’t get too political with my blog, or at least not directly political. I suppose that you can see a bit of my politics come through in some of my posts, even if they aren’t directly political. I do follow politics at least reasonably closely, so you may see an occasional blog that makes reference or is related to politics (I actually have at least one on the backburner that I’ve been thinking about), but for now I will probably stay with the current themes more often than not.
